Muskan Jain

Story

The Vahini Brooch captures water's most essential quality—its unstoppable flow. Like a river current frozen mid-motion or a wave caught at its most graceful curve, this sculptural brass brooch transforms the abstract concept of "flow" into something you can pin to your heart. It's the fourth and final piece in the River Sutra Collection's debut, bringing Muskan Jain's meditation on sacred waters full circle.

The brooch's organic, asymmetrical form features flowing brass ribbons that curve and undulate like water following its natural path. Hand-etched with subtle linear textures that suggest ripples and currents, the brass catches light from multiple angles, creating a dynamic visual that shifts as you move—never static, always alive. The warm gold-tone finish evokes sunlight on water, that liquid gold quality of rivers at dawn.

A lustrous freshwater pearl nestles within the brass curve like a precious drop suspended in current, or a river stone polished smooth by centuries of flow. The pearl adds a cooling luminescence that contrasts beautifully with the brass's warmth—the eternal conversation between water and light that defines riverside meditation.

What makes a brooch special is its versatility. Unlike necklaces or earrings, a brooch travels—it can be positioned high on a lapel, low on a collar, asymmetrically on a scarf, centered on a jacket, securing a shawl, adorning a hat, or even worn unconventionally on a bag. The Pravaha Brooch works equally well on traditional Indian wear (imagine it securing the pallu of a saree) or contemporary Western clothing (perfect on a blazer lapel or coat collar). This mobility, this ability to flow from one position to another, makes it the perfect embodiment of its name.

The story

A brooch that travels

Unlike necklaces or earrings, a brooch is mobile — it can sit high on a lapel, low on a collar, securing the pallu of a sari, pinning a scarf, adorning a jacket or bag. The Vahini Brooch's ability to flow from one position to another makes it the perfect embodiment of its name: vahini, the carrier, the one who flows.

Who made it

Muskan Jain — Designer

Vahini is Muskan Jain's final piece in the River Sutra debut — bringing her meditation on sacred waters full circle. The brooch captures water's most essential quality: its unstoppable flow. A river current frozen mid-motion. A wave caught at its most graceful curve. The abstract concept of flow, made wearable.

Pair it with

The River Sutra Collection's most versatile piece — wear it on a sari pallu, a blazer lapel, a silk scarf, a kurta, or unconventionally on a bag. Pairs with any River Sutra earring. No matching necklace required — the brooch occupies the chest space a pendant would and needs no accompaniment.

Handmade & Small Batch

Like the rivers that inspired this collection, no two journeys are ever the same. Each piece is individually handcrafted in Odisha using traditional techniques, resulting in gentle variations in texture and finish that celebrate the beauty of handmade craft.
