Muskan Jain

Story

The Taranga Pendant captures the eternal rhythm of waves—that endless conversation between water and shore, the repetitive yet never-identical motion that has mesmerized seekers and storytellers for millennia. This exquisite brass pendant is the inaugural piece from the River Sutra Collection, designer Muskan Jain's meditation on how water shapes both landscape and soul in Odisha.

The pendant's elegant teardrop form features hand-etched ribbing that mimics waves in perpetual motion. One half showcases deeply textured vertical lines—like water flowing, surging, moving with purpose—while the other half remains smooth and polished, representing the mirror-like stillness of temple tanks at dawn. This duality speaks to the two aspects of water's wisdom: the active energy of Puri's crashing waves and the contemplative quiet of Bhubaneswar's sacred ponds.

A lustrous freshwater pearl crowns the pendant, like a single drop suspended at the moment before it merges with the infinite. The pearl's natural iridescence captures how light plays on water's surface—sometimes silver, sometimes gold, always shifting with perspective and time.

Suspended from a delicate gold-toned chain, the Taranga Pendant rests gracefully at the collarbone. It catches light as you move, creating its own subtle ripple effect—a reminder that you carry with you the eternal motion of waves, the sacred flow that Gita Mehta so beautifully chronicled in her river stories.

Versatile enough for both daily ritual and special occasions, Taranga transitions effortlessly from meditation practice to beach walks to contemporary workspaces. It speaks to those who find spirituality in natural elements, who understand that water carries stories, and who recognize in the pendant's flowing lines the sutras—the threads—that connect us to something larger than ourselves.

The story

Two halves, one truth

Taranga means wave in Sanskrit. This pendant's teardrop form has two sides: one half deeply textured with hand-etched vertical lines — water flowing, surging, moving with purpose — while the other half is smooth and mirror-polished, the stillness of temple tanks at dawn. Muskan Jain began the River Sutra Collection with this duality.

Who made it

Muskan Jain — Designer

Muskan Jain designed the River Sutra Collection as a meditation on how water shapes both landscape and soul in Odisha. Taranga is the inaugural piece — the wave that begins the collection's journey. Each pendant is hand-etched individually; the texture on every piece is slightly different.

Pair it with

Pair with Taranga Brass Studs for a complete coordinated set. The studs echo the pendant's wave-etched form at the ear while the pendant rests at the collarbone. Together, they create a harmonious set without being matchy.

Handmade & Small Batch

Like the rivers that inspired this collection, no two journeys are ever the same. Each piece is individually handcrafted in Odisha using traditional techniques, resulting in gentle variations in texture and finish that celebrate the beauty of handmade craft.
