Jyotsna Table Lamp

Jyotsna, Sanskrit for "moonlight," embodies the soft, ethereal quality of light filtered through organic patterns. This exceptional table lamp from the Aabha collection celebrates the interplay of illumination and shadow through a striking dual-light design where both the perforated ceramic base and bamboo-woven shade become vessels of gentle radiance.

The lamp's sculptural base is a masterwork by ceramist Sarada Rout—a conical stoneware form adorned with an organic pattern of hand-carved perforations in varying sizes. Glazed in a serene blue-teal that evokes ocean depths, the ceramic surface comes alive when illuminated, with warm light spilling through dozens of carefully placed openings. These perforations create a mesmerizing constellation effect on surrounding surfaces, transforming the base into a luminous sculpture that casts dancing patterns of light and shadow.

Rising from the perforated base, a cylindrical bamboo shade showcases master weaver Ekadasi Barik's geometric honeycomb pattern—the same intricate interlacing technique perfected through generations of Khorda artisans. The muslin interior liner diffuses the upper light softly while the bamboo weave creates its own delicate shadow play, complementing the base's stellar patterns.
Designed by Abhijeet Kaushal, Jyotsna represents a sophisticated evolution in the Aabha lighting range. Unlike traditional lamps where only the shade diffuses light, this design transforms the entire form into a light-emitting sculpture. The result is a uniquely atmospheric illumination—warm light emanates upward through bamboo and downward through ceramic perforations, creating layers of ambient glow perfect for bedside tables, reading nooks, or as a statement piece on console tables.
