Story
Story
There is a form so ancient in Indian tradition that it predates written record: the Kalasha — that round-bellied, narrow-necked vessel with its paired scroll handles, its permanent association with water, blessing, and the sacred beginning of things. It appears at temple doorways, at wedding thresholds, at the culmination of every puja across Odisha and India. You have seen it ten thousand times without perhaps knowing its name.
The Kalasha Table Lamp takes this sacred vessel and fills it with light. The ceramic base, hand-formed in cream stoneware, holds the Kalasha form precisely: the wide, stable foot, the expanding belly, the narrow neck that rises to meet the lamp fitting, the paired scroll handles — those characteristic curved ears that mark the vessel as ritual rather than merely functional.
Around the foot, a band of Pattachitra-inspired geometric motifs repeats its rhythm like a devotional chant: dot and dash, triangle and arc, the visual grammar of Odisha's ancient decorative arts. The Kalasha is available in two colourways — a deep indigo for those who find comfort in the language of water and ceremony, and a sage green for those drawn to the quieter register of forest canopy and new growth. Both are the same sacred form; each carries a different temperament.
Above this ceramic foundation, Ekadasi Barik's cylindrical bamboo shade completes the lamp. The honeycomb weave — each strip of bamboo interlaced with the precision of a craftsman who has spent a lifetime learning how the material wants to behave — filters the lamplight into a warm, honey-toned glow that casts delicate diamond patterns across whatever surface is near. The cylindrical form of the shade echoes the verticality of the Kalasha neck; the bamboo's organic warmth softens the ceramic's earthen cool. The light that passes through is, in its own way, a kind of offering.
