FLORA PLATE (SET OF 1)

The ubiquitous Paan leaf of the evergreen vine Betel (Piper betle) is a firmament of our day to day lives. Mentioned first in the Kathasaritsagara story collection in 1800 AD by Somadeva, the leaf is a wrapper for the chewing of areca nut with flavours and lime added, which acts as a mouth freshener and digestive. A sheaf of betel leaves is traditionally offered as a mark of respect and auspicious beginnings including greeting elders at wedding ceremonies, celebrating the New Year. For this leaf of many cultural hues, we present our commemorative stoneware plates with hand carved wooden stands in several colours like the sunlight bouncing off it during the day!

The pārijātā flora plates collection is a dedication to the beautiful leaves, vines, and flowers of an amazingly biodiverse state. This biodiversity is under-appreciated in the daily hustle of our lives and is threatened by rampant urban growth, climate changes and deforestation. Each ceramic plate is hand-pressed to carefully embossed with a leaf, vine or flower in its natural state and glazed carefully to provide a vivid description of its texture and lines.These plates are our artistic endeavour to preserve, appreciate and remind us of our green heritage in our day to day lives.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

-This product is handcrafted and therefore slight variations in colours, textures and forms are inevitable and aren’t flaws.

-Stoneware is terracotta inspired and might shed moisture.

-Wash by hand only, using a mild dishwashing soap. Dry using a soft towel or tissue. Avoid stacking ceramic bowls in the sink.

– This ceramic product is microwave-safe.
